Unfortunately on 11th August 2020 we were advised that a staff member from CaSPA Care had tested positive to COVID-19 (coronavirus). The staff member had only worked at South Port Community Residential Service in 2020.
COVID-19 planning and preparation has been underway at both of our homes for some months. We quickly implemented our plan and measures at South Port to safeguard the well-being of our residents and staff in line with our comprehensive outbreak management plan. All guidelines and directives from the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services’ Public Health Unit and the Commonwealth Department of Health were followed and South Port was placed in full lock down.
Since that time we have continued to work closely with the health authorities to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff. All residents and staff have been tested on two occasions and all results were negative.
We are pleased to advise as of 20th August 2020 all staff and residents have negative test results. From midnight 20th August 2020 DHHS has advised South Port is de-escalated to an active surveillance stage which requires vigilant monitoring of residents and staff over the next days.
We would like to thank the residents, families and staff of South Port for their understanding and support during the past days.
